Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Department of Italian Studies at Wellesley College invites applications for a one-year teaching position as Lecturer of Italian beginning July 1, 2011. The position is renewable and benefits eligible. The successful candidate will be expected to teach three courses: two semesters of Beginning Intensive Italian (a class that meets every day of the week) and one semester of another Italian language course, Beginning or Intermediate Italian, (meeting three times a week). Responsibilities will also include supervising the Italian Table and the Italian Corridor, in collaboration with the Department Teaching Assistant and Tutors, as well as contributing to the organization of the Wellesley ECCO Program in Bologna.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants should be native or near-native speakers of Italian, have a record of excellence in teaching Italian language, and a training in language pedagogy.

Responsibilities include teaching a broad range of Italian language and culture courses, performing department and college service, and taking an active role in program building, which might include administering an Italian Club, directing Italian theatre performances, and organizing on and off-campus academic events.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate should possess a minimum of an MA or significant graduate studies in Italian literature and culture and a commitment to teaching all levels of undergraduate Italian language courses. Native/near-native fluency in English and Italian.

The successful candidate should also demonstrate an ability to teach a broad range of courses, with a specific emphasis on intermediate/advanced language courses, from a creative multi-disciplinary perspective. The candidate should demonstrate a proven ability in program building. This might include: shepherding students beyond the general education language requirement, conducting activities such as faculty-led programs in Italy, Italian clubs, and/or directing theatrical performances in Italian. Preference will be given to candidates with at least five years teaching experience at a similar institution and the ability to teach undergraduate language courses in French.

Univ. di Macerata. Corso di aggiornamento.

Anche quest'anno la nostra scuola organizzerà in collaborazione con l'Università di Macerata, un corso gratuito (anche nell'alloggio) di aggiornamento per docenti di italiano LS. Il tema del corso sarà "La motivazione nell?apprendimento, tra centralità teorica e necessità pragmatica" e si svolgerà dal 22 al 28 aprile nella nostra sede di Castelraimondo (MC). Il termine per le pre-iscrizioni scadrà il 31 marzo e saranno ammessi un massimo di 30 partecipanti.
