Contract Term: From 3 months to 2 years VSO is a leading international development charity. For over 50 years we’ve sent volunteers to developing countries in order to share their skills, build capabilities and promote international understanding. If you join us as a volunteer, you’ll be instrumental in fighting poverty in some of the world’s poorest countries.
We’re looking for education volunteers from a range of backgrounds: especially primary teachers, teachers with management experience, and special education teachers. If you're a qualified teacher with proven experience, you could have the skills that we need for a range of volunteering roles.
The work is varied. You could be supporting colleagues to improve the quality of teaching and learning within the classroom, or developing the use of child-centred learning methodologies. You could help strengthen the management of schools or regional education systems, so that more children gain a better quality education. You could improve teacher training and develop curricula, or work to ensure the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children can benefit from more inclusive education. Most roles are 1-2 years, with occasional shorter-term roles of up to six months also available.
VSO offers comprehensive financial, personal and professional support. We'll provide you with extensive training prior to your placement, and our financial package includes a living allowance, return flights and visas, accommodation and full medical insurance.
