Lecturer, Upper Division Courses in ItalianModern Languages and Literatures, Department of - Quarterly Part-Time Lecturer Purpose: The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit Catholic institution, is looking for an instructor to staff upper-division Italian courses during the 2011-2012 academic quarter. Position is contingent upon funding.Qualifications Ph.D. in Italian or equivalent. Native or near-native level fluency in Italian. Demonstrated excellence in teaching Italian at the college level. Familiarity with communicative and proficiency-based language teaching and testing highly desirable.Rank and Salary Lecturer, Quarterly Part Time; $5,500 per course.Starting Date September, 2011Application Deadline May 15, 2011Responsibilities Duties include fulfilling all responsibilities associated with teaching assigned courses, including: * Conducting all assigned class meetings and individual conferences with students; * Assigning and evaluating student work including exams and written assignments; * Holding weekly office hours on campus; * Submitting student grades to the Office of the Registrar by the designated deadline; and * Fulfilling other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or by the Program Director.Application Procedure Please submit the following via MAIL or FAX : * a letter of application, specifying qualifications, teaching experience and teaching philosophy * current curriculum vitae References and official transcripts should be available upon request.
