Duties and Responsibilities: Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for a three-year, full-time, non-tenure-track Italian Instructor appointment with the possibility of renewal. The position becomes effective August 2010 subject to final approval of funding. The incumbent will teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced Italian courses and will participate in Italian language program development and the coordination of Italian 101-102 language courses. Language coordination duties will include teacher training and evaluation and will also include contacts and coordination with the John Felice Rome Center Italian Program.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must demonstrate native or near-native proficiency in Italian and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Candidates must have, at minimum, an M.A. degree in Italian or an equivalent Italian laurea; Ph.D is preferred. Candidates must have strong evidence of effective teaching based on solid application of contemporary language teaching pedagogy.
