Duties/Responsibilities

The Department of French and Italian in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota occasionally needs Lecturers or Teaching Specialists to teach French or Italian courses that cannot be staffed by regular French and Italian faculty or graduate students. Openings of this kind sometimes occur for teaching day, evening and Summer Session courses. The courses are primarily beginning or intermediate French or Italian language, with occasional advanced language, introductory or major French or Italian literature courses. Appointments will be part-time on a per semester basis or occasionally, for the entire academic year.

Program/Unit Description

The Department offers undergraduate and graduate courses on the language, literature, and culture of France, the broader Francophone world, and Italy.

At all levels, our courses are designed to provide the linguistic skills and to enhance the kind of critical thinking needed to explore other cultures, other historical periods, and to discover what makes them meaningful today.

The University of Minnesota shall provide equal access to and opportunity in its programs, facilities, and employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, gender, age, marital status, disability, public assistance status, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
