Tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Italian, entry-level (no more than four years of full-time post-doctoral teaching experience at the time of appointment), beginning August 2011. Requirements: PhD in Italian Studies, native or near-native fluency in Italian and English, evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching, and a strong interest in liberal arts education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is able to teach all levels of Italian language and culture as well as general education courses in English in addition to demonstrating strong scholarly promise. The teaching load is five courses a year. We are particularly interested in individuals with strong experience in language instruction and experience (or demonstrated interest) in teaching a course on either Dante or Italian Renaissance culture. Preference will be given to candidates who have a demonstrated interest or experience in teaching general education and/or interdisciplinary courses.
