Required Qualifications:

Broad range of knowledge in subjects including geography, history, literature, art, music, and popular culture; familiarity with InCopy publishing system. College degree preferred.

This position is part-time, (.4FTE) and is responsible for teaching Grades 7 and 8 at 2 schools (Kennedy Elementary School and Healey Elementary School) from 9:40 am -12:00 pm. Students will be introduced to fundamental vocabulary and basic language patterns typical in an introduction language course. The teacher should employ an active oral approach in order to provide a basis for on going communicative competency in the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students will benefit by studying at least one year of Italian at the middle school level and be able to continue at Somerville High School in the Italian level 1 honors class in the 9th grade.
