L'Italo-Americano is a bilingual, weekly newspaper serving the Italian-American community throughout the United States. Established in 1908, L'Italo-Americano is the oldest Italian-American newspaper in the United States with a mission to promote and preserve Italian culture and heritage by reporting in both Italian and English on subjects such as arts and culture, literature, education, history, business, sciences, sports, lifestyle to name a few.

The paper publishes news articles that feature events in the Italian-American communities primarily of the west coast, helping to foster a meaningful connection with Italian culture. L'Italo-Americano is published every Thursday, and it reaches more than 30,000 readers weekly. Moreover, with a growing social media network, it will be on the cutting edge of how Italian-Americans can connect with their culture and heritage.

L'Italo-Americano is now offering a 3-months internship at its headquarters in Los Angeles, California. During the collaboration, the intern will work as a journalist writing articles in English and Italian, covering events of interest for the newspaper in the Los Angeles area and providing administrative support. A very good knowledge of written and spoken English and Italian are required as well as good writing skills.

L'Italo-Americano will provide the intern an independent accommodation near its headquarters for the duration of the collaboration.

Broad scholarly specialization will range from Dante and the European Humanist tradition to the 17th century. The successful candidate will be a committed and published scholar, with PhD in hand, a strong critical and trans-disciplinary or comparative approach to research, and documented pedagogical abilities and interests. The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the College of William and Mary seeks applications for a tenure track position at the advanced Assistant Professor level in Italian Studies. Area of specialization is open, though expertise in Film Studies, Gender Studies and/or Postcolonial Studies is preferred. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Italian or a related field at the time of appointment (August10, 2014) and native or near-native fluency in Italian and English is required. The candidate is expected to maintain a research program that inspires a highly motivated undergraduate student body. Candidates must possess the skills to teach compelling courses in Italian language and culture at all levels. Evidence of excellent teaching is required and previous experience in teaching and mentoring successful undergraduate research is preferred. Teaching expectation is two courses per semester. Department Introduction:

The Department of Languages and Literatures offers the following undergraduate programs: majors and minors in French, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish; minors in Classics, Japanese, and Chinese; beginning levels of study in Hebrew and Arabic. Job Summary:

The Department of Languages and Literatures at the University of Denver invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a specialization in 20th- and/or 21st-century Italian literature, cultural studies and/or film studies. Position responsibilities include:

Teaching six courses during the academic year. The majority of these courses will be within the Italian curriculum; however, contribution to non-language classes of the University’s common curriculum and/or to other interdisciplinary programs. Working with section faculty, assess Italian offerings, design courses, and revise the curriculum.
Advising of majors and minors, declared or prospective, and of students planning to study in Italy as well as supervising an occasional senior thesis.
Publishing in high quality and increasingly authoritative publications in a field or subfield belonging to the area of specialization, placed in top journals and/or (for book-length manuscripts) with a leading academic press.
Participating in regional, national, and international scholarly associations and congresses.
Serving as a member on ad hoc and standing committees of the department, division, and university. Early in the tenure probationary period these committee obligations will be prudently selected and more demanding service opportunities will be reserved for after tenure is awarded.



Required Qualifications:

PhD or equivalent in Italian or closely related field (e.g., Romance Languages or Comparative Literature with clear Italian emphasis) (ABD Considered). If PhD is not complete by September 1, 2014, the individual will hold the rank of Instructor until the degree is complete.
Demonstrated excellence and effectiveness in teaching Italian language and/or Italian literature, cultural studies or film studies at all undergraduate levels.
Promise of outstanding scholarship.
Native or near-native command of both Italian and English.



Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Italian or closely related field at the time of application. Area of specialization in 20th- and/or 21st-century Italian literature, cultural studies and/or film studies.
Extended residence and extensive travel in Italy.
Experience in designing courses (including study abroad) and in assessing classes and programs.
