The Department of French, German, Italian, Slavic of Temple University (Philadelphia, PA), seeks to fill a full-time non-tenure-track position in Italian to teach the language at all levels and possibly assist in coordinating Italian language courses beginning in late August, 2013. This is a one year position with the possibility of renewal. The teaching load will be 12 credits per semester; courses at all levels in Italian literature and/or culture taught in Italian or English may also be included. Minimum qualification: M.A. in Italian; however, the ABD or Ph. D. in Italian Studies is highly preferred. Greater preference will be given to applicants with preparation and experience in technology-assisted instruction and foreign language pedagogy. Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level is required. Applicants must have near-native or native fluency in Italian and English. Deadline for the submission of materials is April 15, 2013.
Please submit on-line to fgis@temple.edu a letter of interest, current CV, teaching statement, evidence of student evaluation, and unofficial transcripts of graduate work in Italian. In addition, three signed letters of recommendation must be mailed directly to the attention of Louis Mangione, FGIS Chair, 537 Anderson Hall, 1114 Polett Walk, Philadelphia, PA 19122. Tempo fa sui nostri forum abbiamo scoperto che molte espatriate italiane ricorrono all'insegnamento dell'italiano come canale lavorativo all'estero. In effetti la nostra bella lingua pare essere sempre oggetto di grande interesse a tutte le latitudini, e una carriera come insegnante di italiano può rivelarsi interessante, coinvolgente e pratica da portare "a spasso" per il mondo. Nella discussione che ha fatto seguito ad alcune domande di una di noi, Elena (elenainaustralia sui forum), che vive a Melbourn e insegna l'italiano, ha dato una serie di consigli, indicazioni di siti e di libri molto utili. Oggi torna con un articolo ben strutturato per aiutare tutte quelle che intendono cominciare a fare della lingua italiana un canale di realizzazione lavorativa. In calce all'articolo trovate alcuni link a testimonianza di donne che insegnano o hanno insegnato l'italiano all'estero.
