You will be able to demonstrate ability to teach at undergraduate level and will ideally have undergone some formal training in university teaching. You will be expected to contribute to teaching and administration which supports the Department's undergraduate programmes as well as some teaching on the postgraduate programme in interpreting and translation studies (see the departmental homepage www.bath.ac.uk/esml/).



In particular, you will be expected to teach (seminars and some lectures) on some or all of the following units at undergraduate level: Italian written language at first and second year, including some ab initio; Italian fascisms; and have sole responsibility for two specialist options in Italian studies, one each semester. At postgraduate level, you will contribute to specialist translation (Italian to English).



You will additionally help with admissions interviews for the MA in Interpreting and Translation (Italian) and with interpreting examinations (Italian to English) at postgraduate level, as well as oral examinations at undergraduate level.



A PhD is desirable but this is not essential.



You will be able to contribute in all aspects of your work to a Department which whilst being friendly and supportive enjoys a strong reputation for research and high student satisfaction rates, such that it is ranked in the top ten for European studies, languages and politics.



The post is a temporary (fractional) one to cover for sabbatical leave within the department and runs from 1 September 2010 (or as soon thereafter as possible) to 30 June 2011.
