Purpose:
The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit Catholic institution, is looking for an instructor to staff upper-division Italian courses during the 2011-2012 academic quarter. Position is contingent upon funding.Qualifications
Ph.D. in Italian or equivalent. Native or near-native level fluency in Italian. Demonstrated excellence in teaching Italian at the college level. Familiarity with communicative and proficiency-based language teaching and testing highly desirable.Rank and Salary
Lecturer, Quarterly Part Time; $5,500 per course.Starting Date

May 15, 2011Responsibilities
Duties include fulfilling all responsibilities associated with teaching assigned courses, including:
* Conducting all assigned class meetings and individual conferences with students;
* Assigning and evaluating student work including exams and written assignments;
* Holding weekly office hours on campus;
* Submitting student grades to the Office of the Registrar by the designated deadline; and
* Fulfilling other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or by the Program Director.Application Procedure
