A speaker of Italian required for one year, may be extended.

All candidates should be GTCS registered, or eligible for registration.

A unique post has arisen in our Junior School for a native speaker of
Italian to teach children in our innovative Bi-lingual Programme. In
partnership with the Italian Consulate children have the opportunity of
joining a partial immersion programme from Primary 2 through to Primary 7.
For ten hours per week language, humanities, art and music skills are
delivered through the Italian language. This project has been running
successfully for the past four years with a very positive impact on the
children's learning.

Applications are invited for the above post commencing August 19th 2013.
This is a fixed term post for one year initially. The person appointed will
be joining a successful and energetic team and will be expected to take on
the responsibility of class teacher for the children in their care. They
will teach children from two different year groups. With this is mind, it
is desirable that the successful candidate has experience of working with
children of Primary school age and is qualified to a high level.

A willingness to participate fully in the extra-curricular and pastoral
life of the school is essential.

All applicants should be registered, or eligible for registration, with the
General Teaching Council for Scotland. Please enclose a copy of your CV and
Catholic Teaching Certificate, if applicable, with your completed
application form and letter of application which must be written in
English. The teacher appointed to this post will be employed by St
Aloysius' College.

*The Junior School*

Located in the centre of Glasgow, St Aloysius' College Junior School is a
Catholic school for boys and girls from age 3 (Kindergarten) to age 12
(P7). In our school we seek to create a happy, friendly environment in
which our young people can become confident and motivated learners.
Christian values inform every aspect of school life and children are
prepared for and celebrate the Sacraments within the College.

The core subjects are taught by the class teachers in attractive and well
designed classrooms. Science, French/Spanish, Physical Education, Art and
Music are taught by specialist teachers in dedicated rooms. This allows
teachers to gain a generous allocation of non-contact time. We also have
Italian bi-lingual classes within the school.

There is great emphasis on the importance of homework. Both class and
specialist homework is set regularly.

Pupils and staff are encouraged to embrace the Jesuit ideal of service to
others and contribute to the wider school community. A wide range of
after-school activities are offered by our teachers with the aim to assist
the all round development of our pupils.

The person appointed to this post will be expected to fully embrace the
ethos of the school and take a full part in its life.

national rates.*
